Meetings in Italy

Meeting with Dr. Vicini in Rome

Dr. Vicini is a urological surgeon doing implant surgeries in Italy, for transsexual patients as well as for those suffering erectile dysfunction. He’s based in the outskirts of Rome. In 2016 he was trained the famous Belgrade Center in Serbia, specializing in reconstructive genital surgery. We went to see him to show him our ZSI FTM implants. Having a lot of experience in phalloplasty, he could appreciate both the rigidity of the ZSI 475 FTM implant when inflated and the malleability of the ZSI 100 FTM. He was also very interested in our new implant designed for metoidioplasty. Soon we’ll arrange a day for Dr. Vicini to exchange information with Dr. Morel-Journel from Lyon, an expert in the latter technique.

Meeting with Dr. Maggiulli in Rome

Dr. Maggiulli has had a long career as a plastic surgeon, in reconstructive surgery in particular. As such since 1999 he’s worked for sexual reassignment services, doing both MTF procedures (breast augmentation, vaginoplasty) and FTM procedures (mastectomy, phalloplasty, insertion of penile and testicular prostheses). He’s been part of the sexual reassignment department at the San Camillo Hospital in Rome since 2010. He also has an office for private consultations.

He’s already quite familiar with ZSI products thanks to word of mouth and the requests of his patients. We went to see him to show him the ZSI FTM prostheses, so that he’d be able to handle them and study them up close. Dr. Magguilli had several ideas regarding the placement of the plate on the pubic bone. ZSI always listens to surgeons, in order to create better and better products. Next we plan to visit the surgeons in the Lyon Center directed by Dr. Morel-Journel, so they can share their experience and consider an evolution in the placement of the plate.

ZSI is the only European manufacturer of artificial urinary sphincters and of malleable and inflatable penile implants, as solutions for male urological problems (incontinence), sexual complications (Erectile Dysfunction), and gender identity procedures (prostheses for trans men and women).
